Art Club Happenings

We have been working on various projects for art club this school year.  Our goal is to create  collaborative pieces that will be permanently on display in our middle school building.  We have been working on a mosaic mural piece, a tapestry made from weavings, and now a chandelier inspired by the work of Dale Chihuly.

Ceramic Mosaic Mural Project 2015

For Middle School Art Club this year we are working on a ceramic mosaic mural of a large tree for our building.   So far we have spent our first 3 meetings creating clay leaves and glazing them.  It will be very exciting to see how this project progresses throughout the school year.

Inspirational Collage

Our last Middle School Art Club meeting took place May 14th. Our project was an inspiration collage. It has been an amazing year. Thank you to all that attended and created in our monthly meetings.

Pinwheel Action

Middle School students had a blast creating and designing pinwheels in art club this week.  Our next meeting is May 14th at 3:20 to 4:15.  Our project will be an inspirational collage.  It is the last meeting of the school year.  We hope to see you there!

Middle School Art Club

Middle School Art Club students last week created Oaxacan Gecko Paper Sculptures.  Our next art club meeting will be Thursday April 23rd from 3:30 to 4:15.  Our project will be a pinwheel.

Abstract Watercolor Design

Abstract Watercolor Design

We had another great night at ArT cLuB!  Our task for the evening was an Abstract Watercolor Design.  Students broke up the space of their paper into organic or geometric shapes.  The spaces were outlined with a black sharpie marker.  Students then painted their paper using watercolor paint or tempera cakes.  After the pieces dried, India Ink was placed on various points of the sharpie marker.  Students took a straw and blew out the ink to create unique lines.

Our next art club meeting will be on December 4th, 2014.  Topic adventured will be Parabola Drawing.

Day of the Dead

Middle School Art Club, Day of the Dead

Art Club was a hit tonight creating masks inspired by the Mexican celebration Day of the Dead. This Mexican holiday celebrates the memories of friends and family who have passed away. This is a three day holiday that begins on October 31st. Our next art club meeting will be November 20th 3:30 to 4:15 pm with an Abstract Watercolor painting as our theme. 

Art Club: Dandelion Abstraction

Middle School Art Club, Dandelion Abstraction Example

Middle school students had their first art club meeting last night. Our project was called Dandelion Abstraction. Students used concentric circles to create their flower designs. We had a great turn out with roughly 20 students.

Art Club is for students in grades 5-8.  Our next art club meeting will be Thursday, October 2nd, 2014 at 3:30to 4:15 pm where we will be working on a Fall Leaf Print Card.
