Crazy Busy Art Room Art Prompt 32

What a beautiful weekend.  Sunshine.  I think it makes everything just a bit better.

Today we are going to discuss one of the elements of art.  There are 7 elements of art.  You can think of an element as an ingredient to create art.  Almost like a recipe!  The element we will be exploring with today is line.  Line is 2D, but can suggest 3D forms in an artwork.

Supplies Needed:  paper and markers

I have posted pictures to help you with the steps, but I still encourage you to read the directions for further instruction or creative options.

Step 1:  Draw a zig-zag line near the bottom of your paper with a green marker.   This will create our first hill in our composition.

Step 2:  Repeat the line until you go off the paper.  Try to keep your lines evenly spaced.  As we we continue you this lesson you can play with the spacing between the lines as we add more and more hills to our composition.

Step 3:  Add another zig-zag line in a different color marker.  I would recommend another shade of green, yellow, brown or blue.

Step 4:  Repeat the line in that space until it is filled.  Again, try to keep your lines evenly spaced.

Step 5:  Add another zig-zag line.  Have this zig-zag line go at a diagonal, so it ends in the center of your paper.  Use the color you were using the first time in step 1 or switch to another color.  Again, I recommend a shade of green, yellow, brown or blue.

Step 6:  Repeat the line in that area until the space is filled.  Try to keep the spacing even between your lines.

Step 7:  Add another zig-zag line in another color of your choice (shade of green, yellow, brown, blue).  Have this line also be a diagonal line that ends near the center of your paper.  Have it start on the opposite side of the paper then the previous line.

Step 8:  You guessed it!  Repeat the line until the space is filled.

Step 9:  Add one more zig-zag line.  Use blue, purple or gray.  These will be our mountains in the background.

Step 10:  Repeat the line until the space is filled.

Step 11:  Using red, orange or yellow, create a circle in the sky for the sun.  Repeat the circle until you get the size of the sun you desire for you composition.

Step 12:  Add a horizon line with either a red, orange, yellow or pink maker.

Step 13:  Repeat the line until the until the space is filled.

Step 14: Add another horizon line.  Use a different color than last time.  Again, red, orange, yellow or pink.

Step 15: Continue repeating the line until the space is filled.

Step 16:  Pick another color.  Repeat the line until all the space is filled in your sky area.  If you have a large area of sky to fill you may have to repeat this process (steps 14 and 15) several times to fill the space.

Step 17:  Add a second color choice to your sun.  Repeat the circles inside the lines.

Step 18:  Add green or brown lines in the hills for tree trunks.

Step 19:  Using a green marker, color back and forth to create a pine tree.

Step 20:  Using a black marker, pop in a few details into your pine trees.
