Crazy Busy Art Room Art Prompt 34

We are going to ROAR into Wednesday by creating a portrait of a lion.  A portrait is a painting, drawing, or photograph of a person (or in our case a lion) that displays only the face or head and shoulders.  We will not see the lion's shoulders in our portrait today, because his mane will be covering it.

Supplies needed:  paper, pencil, eraser, black permanent marker, watercolor paints, brushes

I have posted photographs to help with the steps, but please read through the directions for further instruction or creativity choices.

Step 1:  Draw an oval in the center of your paper.

Step 2:  Add 2 curved lines to create ears.

Step 3:  Erase the lines connecting the ears to the oval.  Now add small upside down "U" shapes to create the inside of the ears.

Step 4:  Create 2 curved lines to create eyebrows.

Step 5:  Add 2 vertical lines to begin to create the nose.

Step 6:  Create a triangle to make a nose.

Step 7:  Now add 2 circles to form the cheeks.

Step 8:  Erase the lines inside the circles.

Step 9:  Add 2 circles to create the eyes.

Step 10:  Outline with a permanent black marker.  Add whiskers.

Step 11:  Paint your lion's face using yellow and orange paint.

Step 12:  Paint inside the ears and nose.  You can choose your colors for this.

Step 13:  Paint orange lines all around the head of your lion.  This will begin to form the mane on the
the lion.

Step 14:  Add red lines next.

Step 15:  Now add brown lines.

Step 16:  Add some yellow lines.

Step 17: Add green lines.  Keep adding colors until you are happy with the results.  His mane will look like a colorful rainbow!
