Crazy Busy Art Room Art Prompt 43

Happy Tuesday artists!  It looks like it is going to be a beautiful day!  Today we are going to learn how to draw a parrot.  Did you know that there are 372 different types of parrots in the world?   Parrots usually sport bright, beautiful colors and live in tropical areas.  If you ever decide to get a parrot as a pet, you should know they can live up to 80 years old!

Supplies:  paper, pencil, eraser, medium of your choice (markers, crayons, watercolor paints, etc.)

Step 1:  Draw an oval at a diagonal in the center of your paper.

Step 2:  Attach another oval to the top of the first oval.  Notice how the second oval narrows a bit when it connects to the first oval.

Step 3:  Add an eye and a sad face inside the top oval.

Step 4:  Add a curved line that starts at the bottom of the sad face line.

Step 5:  Add a curved line to form the top of the beak.

Step 6:  Add another curved line underneath the top beak to make the bottom of the beak.

Step 7:  Erase the lines inside the beak.

Step 8:  Add a small line that comes from the bottom of the beak towards the wing.

Step 9:  Draw a slightly curved Kline to create the chest of the bird.

Step 10:  Add a triangle shape to the tip of the wing.

Step 11:  Erase the line connecting the oval to the triangle.

Step 12:  From the tip of the tail, draw a diagonal line.

Step 13:  Curve the line and draw it up towards the wing.

Step 14:  Repeat the line to make a second feather.

Step 15:  Repeat the line again to make a third feather.

Step 16:  From the last feather you drew, draw a curved line to make the first talon.

Step 17:  Add a smaller curved line underneath the top curved line to make it nice and sharp looking.

Step 18:  Draw a curved line form the top of the first talon.

Step 19:  Add a small curved line to create the second talon.

Step 20:  Time to make a branch.  Have it start from the talons and go off the paper in both directions.

Step 21:  Double the line to give the branch some width.

Step 22:  Erase the feather lines inside the branch.

Step 23:  Draw a diagonal line towards the bottom of your paper.  Start near the center of the first feather.

Step 24:  Curve the line and draw it back up to the second wing feather.

Step 25:  Repeat the line to create a second tail feather.

Step 26:  Repeat the line one more time to make a third feather.

Step 27:  Draw a small circle around the pupil of the eye.  Add a larger circle that comes from the beak and goes around the eye.  Erase the line that connected the oval from the head and the oval from the wing.

Step 28:  Add leaves to your background.

Step 29:  Color with medium of your choice.
