Happy Tuesday Artists! Today we are going to be creating a drawing of potted cacti.
Supplies Needed: Paper, pencil, eraser, black marker and medium of your choice (markers, crayons, watercolor paints)
I have posted photos to help you with the steps, but please read through the directions for additional instructions or creative choices.
Step 1: Draw an ellipse near the center of your paper. Remember an ellipse shape is a flatten oval.
Step 2: Draw 2 curved lines from the outside of the ellipse shape to create the sides of a bowl.
Step 3: Draw a slightly curved line to create the bottom of the bowl.
Step 4: Draw a line to double the edge of the bowl. This will help create depth.
Step 5: Add a zig-zag line to create a little plant in your bowl.
Step 6: Draw a long upside down "U" shape to create your first cactus.
Step 7: Draw a slightly curved line to create the bottom of your cactus. Erase the line of the bowl that is going through the cactus.
Step 8: Draw a circle to create another cactus.
Step 9: Erase the lines inside the circle. If you want to, you can add a flower on top of the cactus.
Step 10: Let's make another upside down "U" shape to create a third cactus behind the small plant.
Step 11: Add a smaller circle on top of this cactus.
Step 12: Erase the lines to connect the 2 shapes. Also, erase any bowl lines going through the shape.
Step 13: Add another cactus shape if you wish. Add additional cactus flowers if you wish. Or more small plants.
Step 14: Outline your art using a black marker. If you are planning on painting, make sure your marker is permanent.
Step 15: Using a black marker, add lines to each cactus. You can add short tiny lines to make the cactus look pokey.
Step 16: Using a black marker add small circles to make rocks in the bowl.
Step 17: Divide your bowl with line to create different spaces.
Step 18: Using vertical, horizontal, diagonal, and zig-zag lines decorate the spaces created inside the bowl. Play with thick and thin lines.
Step 19: Color or paint your project with the medium of your choice.
